Masti at the Valentine run-the HTHM experience

So the D day finally arrived and no we aren’t talking about SCMM here. It was the much hyped Valentine’s Day. Now over time, I had evolved from the conventional celebration mode of flowers and candle light dinners to someone whose idea of a date was to indulge in an outdoor activity. The Hiranandani Thane Half Marathon couldn’t have been scheduled at a better day-February 14th and we couldn’t think of a better way to spend the day other than…

“A Goodhearted run”: The footsteps4good experience

A friend had suggested to me before SCMM that I should try running for a cause as the feeling of doing so is much more gratifying. I mulled over it and replied in affirmative stating that when the opportunity arises I will do so. Indeed the opportunity did present itself when running veteran and a person whom I greatly admire-Sayuri Dalvi asked me if I was willing to run for a cause at the Footsteps4 good event dated on Feb…

Humid yet spirited- The Wipro Chennai Marathon experience

Doing a 21 km event within a span of just 2 weeks seemed a little overwhelming considering the fact, we were not ultra-marathoners. However we decided to make it an exception for The Wipro Chennai Marathon this time. Earlier scheduled on December 13th 2015, we signed up for it with great gusto, having had a good experience in the 2014 edition. This gave us a good 4 weeks to recover before the much hyped Standard Chartered Mumbai Marathon which…

The route that was familiar yet unfamiliar- The scmm experience

So the D day finally arrived. SCMM dawned nice and bright- the roads swarming with runners of different shapes, sizes and colours. The buzz, preparation and anxiety levels almost seemed like prepping up for our boards taking one back to our school days. Nervousness and excitement was certainly in the air, as we got down at Worli Naka and walked to our new start line and holding area-Worli Diary. Oh yes, this year the organizers had changed the route for…

More than the Runners’ high-The Zendurance Nashik Spirit run experience

The prospect of running amidst the vineyards was too tempting to resist especially when it was just a 4 hour drive from Mumbai. This was despite the fact we had just finished a half marathon the previous Sunday at the exuberant Vasai Virar Mayors Marathon. We had first heard about the Zendurance Nashik Spirit run in October post our monthly meet with the Mumbai Road runners (MRR). Runners could register either for the 21k, 10.5 k or 5 k and…

A family that runs together-The Vasai Virar Mayor’s Marathon experience

When you have the roads washed for you the day before, volunteers who wake up wee hours of the morning to hand over the necessary refreshments at regular intervals; the village folk sacrificing their Sunday morning sleep to cheer for you, then you have no reason to complain even when the weather Gods are not exactly at their best. Despite light showers the day before, Sunday, November 22nd-the day of the Vasai Virar Mayors’ Marathon, still exhibited some humidity in…

Kundalika River Marathon 2015 –Tough terrain, challenging conditions, superb organization, beautiful nature

They say if you want to win something, run 100 meters. But, if you want to experience something, run a marathon. After running several 10k races in good time, it was time I ran a half marathon, a distance of 21 km. So I jumped at the sight of this event, Kundalika river marathon, a run in the lap of nature besides the river is like balm for the soul. It was an evening marathon which started at 4.30 pm…

Kundalika River Half Marathon – tough course, awesome organisation

Kundalika River Half Marathon (KRHM) is one of the toughest half marathons in the country. It is an unusual half marathon in the sense that it is an evening half marathon, the first of its kind in the country. There are night marathons of course in various places like Surat, Bangalore etc. But this marathon starts even when the sun is still not down. KRHM is held in Kolad village which is about 110 kms from Mumbai off the Mumbai…

Pune Running

Very well organised event. If Satara had space limitations at the finish point – Here the ground was too big. One had actually look for – where do you get finisher’s Trophy. There should have been better arrangement to handover refreshments – to hold Banana/Sandwich/Frooti/Trophy – made one’s task difficult!! not complaining – just feed back. I wish next year Police give better support and traffic is stopped fully. Also please decide date – when no other events are there…
